Open courses of 35 Universities “De-recognized” by UGC

University Grants Commission UGC has issued a notice under which the distance program in professional courses like MBA, MCA, B.Ed and hotel management have been De-recognized.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has De-recognized the distance programs of professional courses like MBA, MCA, B.Ed and M.Ed in prominent universities. The list of 35 central and state universities released by the UGC include Indira Gandhi National Open University or IGNOU and Mumbai University’s Institute of Distance Open Learning, IDOL. The UGC has offered a period of 30 days to the universities to submit explanations so as to reverse UGC’s decision. Click here for public notice

The UGC has decided that these universities which have not been running a similar course for the past five years in regular mode would not be permitted to offer the professional courses in distance mode either. The courses that have been De-recognized include MBA, MCA, B.Ed., hotel management and tourism.

Please note that the 35 universities have not been De-recognized. Only a few professional courses offered by the universities have been De-recognized.
